The UNSW Art Collection began in 1955 when Tom Bass's Falconer was commissioned for the University's first permanent building. Since then it has grown by purchase and donation to almost 1200 works in a variety of media and has reached a level of significance warranting inclusion in the Australian Distributed National Collection.
